3. Team Actions

August 8, 2020

At 9:00, the team left the base camp (TB "Bashil") in the Chegem valley. At 16:00, they arrived at the overnight stay on the moraine opposite the route. The weather was good that day.

August 9, 2020

Preparing three ropes took 8 hours. The weather was good during the day, and it rained in the evening.

August 10–11, 2020

Rain. Waited out the bad weather at the bivouac.

August 12, 2020

5:00 — started on the route. By 16:00, they climbed over the edge to the eastern side. At 20:00, they stopped for the night. Darkness caught them on a rocky ledge; there was no place for a tent — they spent two hours building a platform. The weather was good during the day, and it rained in the evening.

August 13, 2020

Started working late:

  • 13:00 — began the snowy-icy part of the route.
  • 16:30 — reached the summit.
  • 17:00 — began descending on the southern side via Tal's route variant, 2A category.
  • 19:00 — descended to the overnight stay on the moraine near Chegem Glacier.

August 14, 2020

10:00 — began descending from the bivouac; 14:00 — the team returned to the base camp at TB "Bashil".

Results, conclusions, comments:

The route left a good impression; interesting climbing, fairly monolithic terrain. The route is quite safe. There is a lot of old "iron" that needs to be checked before use.

We consider this route to be combined since the upper part requires a full set of ice climbing equipment:

  • crampons
  • ice axes
  • ice screws
