In Memory of the Great Commander

On one of the mountain peaks of Altai in August 1995, a memorial sign was installed, representing a plate made of stainless steel in the shape of a warrior's shield. The shield is engraved with:

In Memory of Georgy Zhukov

«Страшнее смерти вынес испытанье, Спасли кольчугою его не ордена, Хранит Господь такие имена,

Его судьба — потомкам назиданье, Как честно жить в любые времена».

In tribute to the merits of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov before the Motherland and noting the approaching 100th anniversary of his birth, a group of veteran Moscow mountaineers made an ascent of an unnamed peak in Altai, which they dedicated to the memory of the great Russian commander.
