Route description to the approach.

From the base camp at the Alay tourist center, follow the trail along the right bank of the Ayu­yu River to the mo­ren­al ridge (1 hour). Continue along the trail for another hour, turn east towards peak A. Blok. Follow the trail along the stream to the glacier (1 hour). Traverse the A. Blok massif in a northerly direction along the gentle part of the glacier (30° 1000 m), and reach the spur of the North ridge of peak A. Blok, East­ern (2–3 hours). Be cautious of snow cornices. Descend under the East­ern wall of peak A. Blok. Cross the glacier and ascend the 55° 120 m ice slope to reach the base of the rock pillar. Overnight here. To the start of the route, 200 m along a simple ridge (2–3 hours).
