Crimea, Morcheka, left part. "Igrok" Route 6A
Igrok, 6A. M-t Maximeni (solo winter 2005)
Starts left of "Cherez ternii k zvezdam" (Through Thorns to Stars) from the first crack. Reach the crack by simple climbing. 10 m. Station on a belay ledge and a hook.
The crux (7a FFA 2013) and interesting pitch is the first one. Further on, there are many 6b and 6c pitches, but lots of loose rocks.
Route Description:
R0–R1. Upwards through cracks using artificial aids, with a short climb to the station about 3 meters. Station on a small ledge. 2 bolts. 35 m VIA3
R1–R2. From the station straight up through intermittent cracks. The route goes left of "Cherez ternii k zvezdam", at a distance of 5–10 m. All on artificial aids, there's a hole for an 8 mm skyhook. Station on a ledge. 40 m V+A3+
R2–R3. Traverse along ledges for 10 m to a crack-cleft. Station on a bolt. 10 m III
ALTERNATIVE: from the station of the 1st pitch, a difficult traverse leftwards around the corner, then through a crack into the corner, and up the internal corner to a ledge, then leftwards to the station. 55 m VI+ A2
The route becomes easier, but more beautiful and logical.
- R3–R4: up the crack, initially by free climbing, in the upper part using artificial aids, reach the top of the cleft. Move left. Station. 30 m VIA2
- R5–R6: up and left to a ledge, can climb further, but there's no convenient spot for a station. 20 m 5Б
- R6–R7: up and slightly right to a grotto, then up and left through a crack under an overhang. Up the crack. Station on a bolt. 55 m VIA2
- R7–R8: up and right, bypassing the "balda" (a rock formation), then by free climbing to a cleft. From the cleft, up and left and up through an overhang to a shelf. Station at the base of a chimney, there's a bolt. 55 m VIA2
- R8–R9: up the chimney under an overhanging "beam", under it rightwards and up to a gentler slope. On easy rocks, approach the wall. Station on bolts. 60 m V+A1
- R9–R10: up the wall, then rightwards and up into an internal corner. Continue up the corner, reach the yayla (plateau). Station on 2 bolts. 50 m V
